Annette Weintraub is a media artist whose projects embed layered narratives within a variety of architectural constructs. Her work is an investigation of architecture as visual language, and focuses on the dynamics of urban space, the intrusion of media into public space and the symbolism of space. She creates projects that integrate elements of narrative, film and architecture within a conceptual representation of space, often using sound to spacialize that structure.
She explores modes of spatial representation and the subjective experience of physical space. Her recent work is concerned with how our sense of place shapes behavior and is memorialized in recollection.
Slide Stories is a jQuery project that examines urban space and focuses on surface incident as a way of exploring sense of place. It investigates the visual morphology of the changing urban environment and links physical surroundings and psychological space. The sequenced images change tempo and reframe as the animation loops, altering intersection of image, text and audio.
